COMMUNICATION MANAGER

Mission
• The WaCA Communication Manager mission will be implemented and manage the MSF WaCA Communication Strategy and ensure the objectives are fully integrated with the overall MSF WaCA strategy.

• The MSF WaCA’s Communication implementation will need to be innovative and make sure it does not duplicate the other MSF entities communications plans.

• Hand in hand with the other departments of MSF WaCA, ensure that the communication strategy is at the service of the MSF Operations.
Objectives
• Implement the innovative MSF WaCA Communication Strategy.
• Implement and manage the Communication Strategy in close collaboration with the Operational department as well as with the Association & Communication
Main responsibilities / Activities
Strategy planning & execution
• Implement, and manage MSF WaCA’s communications strategy and ensure objectives are fully integrated with the overall strategy for MSF WaCA, and compliment fundraising, recruitment, advocacy.
• Develop, implement, and review yearly action plan with clearly defined outcomes and KPIs.
• Provide strategic advice and support to MSF WaCA senior management colleagues on MSF communication initiatives and communication external environment
• Provide regular reporting to the management on the status of the plan and team
• Responsible for MSF’s brand reputation management including crisis communications and its implementation when necessary in close collaboration with the Executive team and management team.


Communications
• Develop a media relation, digital and community outreach plan and initiatives that improve the impact and effectiveness of MSF’s visibility and coverage of its project and issues
• Monitor the external media (traditional and digital) environment in the West and Central Africa region and provide context analysis and suggest editorial approaches
• Monitor, analyze and provide advice on traditional and digital coverage related to MSF
• Work with the WaCA’s management team to identify and pursue proactively new audiences across various channels that would support fundraising, recruitment, and operational needs
• Oversee production and dissemination of all content for external public as well as lead and sign off on original content and messaging initiated by MSF WaCA
• Organize community outreach and public events to raise awareness of MSF in the region amongst different targeted groups and audiences
• Manage high profile flagship campaigns that have significant potential in terms of raising visibility and funds
• Ensure proper knowledge management and sharing of communication initiatives’ related information and best practices within the MSF WaCA office and wider movement
Budget
• Effectively manage the MSF WaCA communications budget
• Provide regular reviews of budget requirements.

Essential Skills
• Significant and demonstrable experience in strategic communications field
• Experience in implementing communication strategies and budgets
• Hands-on experience of media relations work
• Knowledge and understanding of latest trends in communication.
• Proven ability to communicate complex information in accessible, simple language (both verbal and written) to a variety of audiences
• Experience and ability to operate in a complex international structure with a high collaborative style of interaction
• Strong organizational skills with experience of managing multiple tasks
• Flexible, can-do attitude and good team player
• Ability to cope with stress and make sound ethical and personal judgements
• Willingness to work evenings & WE, as required

Professional experience required
• Significant experience in the field of Communication, preferably in the Humanitarian Sector.
• Experience in implementing Coms Strategies
Languages
• French: Full working proficiency
• English: Full working proficiency
• Additional language: An asset
Computer Skills
• MS Office suite
• Design / Audio / Video software intermediate knowledge would be a great asset.
