HR AND GENERAL AFFAIRS MANAGER

Adexen Recruitment Agency is mandated by a leading shipping company to recruit a Human Resource and General Affairs Manager for its operations in Ivory Coast.

Our client is a Japanese liner company with affiliates in Africa, Asia, Europe. They are into the business of shipping and transportation of goods across continents.
Job description
- The Human Resource and General Affairs Manager will have the responsibility of coordinating and supervising human resource activities and general house-keeping within the organization.
- The position is based in Abidjan.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities for this office shall include but is not limited to the following:
- Develop systems to support the achievement of corporate goals
- Determine the staffing needs of the organization based on its structure
- Keep adequate records or all employees, trainees and contractual staff
- Monitor attendance and productivity levels of staff
- Propose career development for high performing employees who demonstrate potential for higher responsibilities
- Provide training to staff from time to time to enhance available skills and keep abreast of trends in the industry
- Design and monitor systems to improve employee potential
- Design suitable reward systems that will motivate employees
- Coordinate health management systems
- Write policies and guide the organization on best practices within the industry
- Coordinate and control leave entitlements
- Provide information on salaries and allowances to tax and revenue are paid on due dates
- Ensure tax and pension fund compliance through periodic returns (Payroll)
- Responsible for house-keeping including purchase and maintenance
- Liaise with landlord or his agent to ensure tenancy agreement is being met
- Monitor official vehicle fleet including maintenance, repair and consumption
- Liaise with line managers on productivity, health and discipline of staff
- Communicate directly with employees for suggestions and feedback
- Maintain contact with overseas offices
- Maintain contact with local and foreign training institutions.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
- Qualified to degree in Human Resource Management and/or previous contract within shipping sector with relevant experience in a similar role; having a legal background is an added advantage
- 4-5 years experience with practical knowledge in Human Resource Management
- Knowledge of key HRM principles, Labour Act and Workmen's Compensation Act
- Must have high integrity
- Ability to relate effectively to people at all levels
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Must be assertive and have the ability to multi task
- Ability to deliver work to tight deadlines
- Ability to monitor and control work activities of others
- English & French is a must
