Job Duties

Duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Translate accurately and efficiently a variety of written material including legal, regulatory, government relations and commercial documents (correspondence, legislation, contracts, meeting minutes, etc.)
• Manage a group-wide database of translated materials to ensure most efficient use across all group sites.
• Create an internal translation glossary / index for use across Allied and assist the Legal department in using it effectively.
• Consult with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately.
• Use translation software / online tools as appropriate and in a cost-effective manner to ensure efficiency and consistency
• Adhere to industry quality and professional conduct standards such as those established by Institute of Translation and Interpretation
• Provides EN-FR and FR-EN interpretation services for English speaking executives from time to time.

Qualifications and skills

The following qualifications and skills are required:

• Between 2- & 5-years’ experience in the translation field
• Native level fluency in French and English (Written and Verbal Communication)
• Good understanding of legal and regulatory terminology and government institutions or ability to acquire such understanding quickly and independently
• Ability to deliver quality work under time pressure
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office and translation software
• Works well with colleagues for a variety of cultural backgrounds

The following qualifications and skills are preferred:

• Academic background or professional experience in law
• Understanding of and interest in mining and/or project development
