Description du poste

1- PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE

The Senior Process Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for all processing plant personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent plant operations. This role provides technical coaching in all gold processing circuits, supports competency-based training, and ensures operators are qualified to perform their duties.

2- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Health, Safety, and Environment:
- Comply with SML’s established health & safety and environmental policies.
- Comply with SML’s fatigue management procedures.
- Ensure you and your team are fully competent and trained on high-risk activities procedures/SWIs.
- Perform Planned Task Observations and ensure compliance with established Safe Work Instructions (SWIs).
- Ensure leading indicators are achieved, captured into Benchmark, and followed up with required actions.
- Ensure daily completion of Take 5s, Hazard Reporting, and Inspections for yourself and your team.
- Ensure hazard reports are completed, closed out, and that corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Complete VFL regularly in the field, focusing on hazard identification, safe behaviors, and risk management.
- Ensure the 10 Golden Rules compliance is implemented through your teams.
- Ensure incidents investigation are being conducted and closed out as per EDV group standards.
- Ensure you and your team comply with the incident alert protocol established on site.
- Ensure you and your team comply with hydrocarbon spill management and fauna dead reporting.
- comply with yearly annual medical checkup procedure.

Communication:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with plant operators to ensure safe, efficient production
- Give timely feedback to operators on performance, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Actively listen to operator concerns regarding safety, process inefficiencies, or resource needs
- Ensure accurate shift logs are maintained, highlighting key issues and actions taken.
- Liaise with management team to ensure alignment on operational priorities.
- Communicate critical issues, delays, or deviations from targets to relevant stakeholders.

Production:
- Ensure you present yourself for work in a fit state.
- Openly share information, skills and knowledge with other personnel.
- Act as a positive example for other personnel to follow.
- Monitor and control gold processing plant operations (Reagents, Crushing, HPGR, grinding, leaching, CIL, elution, and tailings management) to achieve production targets.
- Identify and resolve process inefficiencies, equipment malfunctions, and bottlenecks in collaboration with maintenance and metallurgical teams.

Key Performance Areas
- Safety & Compliance
- Train personnel on hazard identification, risk management, and emergency response.
- Ensure training complies with company policies.
- Conduct refresher training following incidents, near misses, or operational deviations.

Training & Competency Development
- Develop and implement structured training programs for process operators (Crushing, HPGR, Milling, Gravity,
- Elution, Reagents, Tailings).
- Conduct classroom and on-the-job training.
- Create training materials such as SWIs, presentations, and assessment tools.
- Lead competency assessments and certify operators at different levels (Trainee, Level 1, 2, 3,4, Control Room Operator and Leading hand).

Operational Coaching
- Provide hands-on coaching in safe start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
- Mentor control room operators on process monitoring, troubleshooting, and plant optimization.

Department Process
- Support supervisors with training plans and onboarding of new employees.
- Identify skill gaps and create improvement plans for individuals and teams.

Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate training records, competence matrices, and certification registers.
- Update SWIs in collaboration with the Process Supervisors, Coordinators and Superintendent.
- Prepare monthly reports on training KPIs, operator progress, and training effectiveness.
- Support audits, inspections, and recommend improvements to training systems, technology, and operational practices.

3- SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Mandatory:

- Must possess strong cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and empower team.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience at working on construction or mine sites.
- 15+ years of experience in Operations of processing plant with Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a training role in processing plants (in African countries).
- An extensive knowledge of gold processing, metallurgical and maintenance practices Trade Diploma or Technical Degree in relevant Discipline.

Advantages:

- Preference will be given to French & English bilingual candidate.
- Certificate IV or equivalent in Training and Assessing.
- National Driver’s License.
- Mobile equipment certificate.
- Diploma in Processing/Electrical Engineering or Metallurgy.
