Position summary:

The Project Finance & Compliance Manager will be responsible for providing critical financial and administrative leadership for a new five-year project with a large cocoa company. The role holder will work closely with the Finance and Administration Unit in Côte d’Ivoire and with the Finance Manager, Africa and will produce financial reports, monitor expenses, perform financial analysis, co-ordinate the project's grants accounting, reporting, compliance and risk management. The Project Finance & Compliance Manager will be an integral part of the Finance and Accounting team, and as part of that team will be expected to provide, as well as receive, back up and support to others in the department to achieve critical deadlines. The role holder will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with administrative and financial requirements in accordance with donor and Rainforest Alliance policies and procedures. The incumbent will report to the Senior Project Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effective financial management including the preparation of financial plans, subgrantee financial contracts, grants management, financial information management to support effective project management and oversight, preparation of financial reports, facilitating audits;
  • Lead coordination of annual budget planning and execution, including creating reports for donors and ensure the organization’s commitment and compliance to donor policies in collaboration with technical units;
  • Responsible for financial monitoring of subgrantees and capacity building of partners in financial matters;
  • Ensure the implementation of internal controls, financial protocols and monitor expenses assuring the correct source of financing;
  • Ensure delivery in a timely manner of financial reports to managers, country director and donors;
  • Provide staff support in areas related to administrative and contracts orientations, and training for project staff to communicate clear financial policies and procedures;
  • Responsible for supervision of contractual agreements and ensuring they are issued using appropriate templates, in accordance with donor requirements when applicable, and according to Rainforest Alliance policies;
  • Ensure consultants’ invoices, and subcontractors or recipients of sub-agreements are reviewed for accuracy, while processing and tracking payments to consultants and sub-contractors using correct source of funding and accounting project codes are used;
  • Maintain contract payments and all necessary backup documentation; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Studies or related field relevant to the position requirements;
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in financial analysis, (donor) reporting and budgeting;
  • Ability to supervise subgrantees and oversee project compliance function & provide clear guidance on donor policies and procedures;
  • Strong financial skills in budgeting, income tracking, budget monitoring and financial reporting;
  • Familiarity with a multi-office, multi-national organizational environment; not-for-profit experience preferred;
  • Practical experience with management of subgrants;
  • Demonstrated work experience with both Excel and computerized accounting systems;
  • Strong math, analytical and technical skills; highly organized, detail oriented and customer service oriented;
  • Proficiency in English and French language; and
  • Able to meet local travel requirements for the role of up to 30% per annum.

 

 

Job LEVEL: 3A

 

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
