The International University of Grand-Bassam is seeking one candidate to fill the position of Electrician in the Administration and Finance Department (ADF) in the Facilities Unit.

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

Assist the Facilities coordinator by providing support for Building and Maintenance activities especially in the Electrical area.  Supervise and monitor the services of maintenance contractors to ensure appropriate customer service under the supervision of the coordinator. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Maintenance

  • Relay all pertinent information/issues/needs/ideas to the Coordinator
  • Inspect the premise regularly and conduct routine maintenance inspection
  • perform routine electrical maintenance and install major electrical appliances for the building
  • Disassemble damaged and broken equipment for repair, then reassemble pieces after repair work has been successfully completed.
  • Providing suggestions for equipment- replacement
  • Maintain grounds and common areas to ensure they are operational, safe and clean for our residents.
  • Receive deliveries of tools, equipment and supplies and transfer them to work stations or other areas as dictated by management.
  • Hold or hand off tools, equipment and parts to workers who are actively working on maintenance or repairs.
  • May be called out at odd hours or have to work long hours in case of emergency.
  • Examine machinery to ensure that it is functioning properly and to check for defects in components or parts.
  • Move or position vehicles, physical structures and other equipment to ensure easy access for workers who will be installing or assembling them.
  • Use hand or power tools to disconnect, connect or adjust tubing, wiring and other parts as needed.
  • Receive work orders and determine what parts, equipment and services are needed to perform necessary maintenance and repair work.
  • Perform related work as required.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic maintenance functions, including cleaning, basic electric, carpentry, painting and plumbing
  • Proven work experience as a Maintenance Electrician
  • Familiarity with industrial systems and the International and national Electrical code
  • Ability to lift up to 50pounds without assistance
  • Physically strong and able to stand for long periods
  • Good communication and reasoning skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good verbal, presentation and listening skills
  • French fluent, English medium

 

Minimum Hiring Standards

High School diploma in electricity or equivalent with a minimum of 02 years’ experience.
