OBJECTIVE: The Senior Logistics Associate is responsible for leading and optimizing end-to-end logistics operations to support Genser Energy’s power generation and project activities. The role ensures the timely and cost-effective movement, storage, and delivery of critical equipment, materials, and spares required to maintain operational uptime across corporate and remote sites. This position plays a key role in minimizing operational disruptions by managing time-critical shipments, coordinating logistics during planned and unplanned maintenance, and driving continuous improvement in logistics efficiency, cost, and service delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Logistics Operations Management
- Coordinate end-to-end logistics planning and execution for operational, maintenance, and project-related activities.
- Ensure timely delivery of critical equipment, materials, and spare parts to support plant uptime and project schedules.
- Act as the logistics focal point for urgent and time-sensitive shipments, including during outages and emergency situations.
- Proactively identify and resolve logistics bottlenecks, delays, and supply chain disruptions.
Transportation & Fleet Coordination
- Plan transport and optimize routes and fleet utilization to make deliveries more reliable and improve operational efficiency.
- Supervise logistics providers, freight forwarders and carriers, and ensure compliance with service level contractual (SLA) commitments.
- Conduct performance reviews of service providers and manage actions to improve the quality of service and control costs.
- Contribute, with the Purchasing team, to the selection of service providers, to the negotiations and monitoring of contracts.
- Plan the needs for lifting and handling equipment on site (cranes, forklifts, etc.), in coordination with the operational teams and project managers.
- Manage the management of the rental of this equipment, in collaboration with the Purchasing team for the selection of service providers, the negotiation of rental conditions and the monitoring of contracts.
- Coordinate the mobilization, provision and return of equipment, ensuring with the technical and HSE teams that it is appropriate to needs and that safety requirements are met.
- Monitor the use of equipment, rental periods and associated costs, anticipate extensions or end of rentals and check the compliance of invoices with the services provided.
Procurement & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams to align logistics execution with business needs.
- Support logistics-related procurement processes, including purchase order tracking and supplier coordination.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of logistics documentation, including invoices, delivery notes, and customs documentation.
Warehousing & Inventory Coordination
- Oversee warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory control, and dispatch of materials.
- Ensure accurate inventory visibility and coordinate stock reconciliation and audits.
- Implement best practices for storage and handling, particularly for critical and high-value equipment.
- Work closely with Procurement and Operations to ensure optimal stock levels of critical spares.
Compliance, HSE & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with local and international logistics regulations, including customs and import/export requirements.
- Uphold Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across all logistics and transportation activities.
- Identify logistics risks (e.g., delays, damage, regulatory issues) and implement mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate, auditable documentation for all logistics activities.
Process Improvement, Cost Optimization & Strategy
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
- Analyze logistics operations to identify cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.
- Provide recommendations to management on logistics strategy, vendor optimization, and operational improvements.
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop and maintain logistics dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators.
- Monitor and report on logistics KPIs such as:
- On-time delivery rates
- Logistics cost per shipment
- Vendor performance and SLA adherence
- Inventory accuracy and stock availability
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline; A BTS or equivalent qualification with eight years’ experience in the relevant role, including four years in a supervisory role.
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CILT, CSCP) is an advantage.
- Multicultural experience is mandatory.
- Experience in energy, engineering, infrastructure, or industrial sectors is an advantage.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in logistics or supply chain operations within an international organization.
- Strong experience managing logistics in operational or site-based environments (e.g., plant, industrial, or remote sites).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong experience using SharePoint for document management.
- Proven experience handling time-critical and high-value shipments.
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Sage300, or similar).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including dashboards, pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and large dataset analysis.
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers and vendor relationships.
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and import/export processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Propose training and development program for staff in line with technical and business needs.
- Carry out performance appraisals and development plans with subordinate staff.
- Coordinate the rotational schedule (on and off duty) of subordinate staff.
