Agriterra is looking for a Cooperative Advisor to coordinate advisory processes and facilitate capacity building to strengthen cooperatives and farmers’ organisations in Côte d’Ivoire.

About the role

For this position, Agriterra is seeking an experienced, results-oriented professional who will provide expert advice, coordinate advisory trajectories with clients, and play an advisory and brokerage role in closing business deals aimed at building well-organised and operational cooperatives and farmers’ organisations.

To achieve this, the successful candidate will initiate and maintain a network that includes cooperatives and farmers’ organisations, financial institutions, traders, service providers, and other stakeholders across the value chain.

The Cooperative Advisor will initiate and guide change trajectories with clients and will lobby, mediate, and support negotiation processes, as well as contribute to the preparation and facilitation of business deals.

Who we’re looking for

You are an inspiring and practical professional who believes in the power of cooperation. You combine strong analytical and financial skills with a genuine passion for supporting farmers and their organisations.

Your background includes:

A Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agroecology, Soil Science, Crop Science, Agricultural Development, Agribusiness, Rural Development, or another relevant agriculture-related field.

5+ years of relevant professional experience in agricultural development, cooperative strengthening, or related fields.

Sound understanding of the agricultural landscape in Côte d’Ivoire, particularly cocoa and food crops.

Practical experience in agroecology, climate-smart agriculture, integrated soil fertility management, sustainable agricultural input systems, organic input production—including compost, liquid organic fertilisers, and natural repellents—and food crop diversification.

Experience working with agricultural cooperatives, facilitating workshops and training sessions, and managing agricultural projects.

Strong oral and written communication skills in English and French.

Good computer skills, particularly MS Office.

Willingness to be based in an upcountry location, close to the Farmer Organisations (FOs), and to travel regularly within Côte d’Ivoire.
