1- PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE
Due to the significant increase in workload driven by infrastructure expansion, and workforce growth,
the SML IT Service requires additional resource to ensure the delivery of high-quality services in a
timely manner.
Reporting to the IT Supervisor, the IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the deployment,
administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the SML's IT infrastructure. This includes
Windows-based endpoints and servers, network and telecommunications equipment, virtualization
platforms, power management systems, backup solutions, and related IT services and administrative
support activities, including the coordination and tracking of vendor payment processes, purchase order
creation, and procurement-related documentation.
2- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
System Administration
Administration
• Administering the company’s IT systems, ensuring the integrity and security of all computer
systems and applications such as:
• Provide first level support to end users and ensure that IT assets are working as requested
• Documents, diagrams, and maintains the network & infrastructure design,
• Maintains a list of all Company hardware devices, serial numbers, locations, warranty
details, and servicing schedule.
• Responsibility for the optimal operation of the hardware, system, and networks.
User Support • Responds to requests and questions from users.
• Resolves incidents and optimizes system performance.
• Performs follow-up check of the outcome of the proposed solution and ensures the user is
fully operational.
• Documents the process and saves the information that proves helpful in a knowledge base
for future incident response.
Reporting:
• Provides required reports that address such IT issues as:
• Individual server performance, technical specification, hosting detail and storage data.
• Detail of applications operating on and within the network together with an overview of
performance and related issues.
• Network performance data.
• Firewall performance data.
• UPS performance data.
• Software updates / expiry notification data.
• Wireless Network performance data.
Policy & Procedures:
• Educates users with respect to the company’s acceptable IT policies.
• Notes deviations from the Company’s procedures and policies, brings such deviations to the
attention of the individual if minor and to the attention of the IT Network and System
Administration Engineer if material.
Company:
• Be familiar with and comply with all Company policies and procedures, including, but not
limited to: Code of Conduct, Fit for Work, Discrimination and Harassment.

• Be familiar with and comply with Company and site management safety system and be
proactively involved in ensuring the objectives are implemented.

• Actively participating in OH&S activities.
• Comply with all Company environment and community policies, standards, and procedures.

3- SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education:
• Formal vocational or university level training in Information technology systems (BAC+3)
Relevant experience & skills:
• Certificates of training for specific information technology systems is an advantage
• Minimum 1 year experience in a production, operating or support environment
• Ability to methodically analyse and implement
• Ability to manage priorities and ensure deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively in an IT team
• Ability to adapt to non-technical users
• Editorial capacity, to be able to summarize actions taken
• Sense of service and strong motivation for user satisfaction
• Very high availability and responsiveness, coupled with a strong personal commitment
• Adheres to a philosophy of discretion and confidentiality
• Spirit of initiative and autonomy in his actions, while knowing how to work in a team
• Extreme rigor and sense of organization
• Dynamism and curiosity
• Know how to be objective and adapt to difficult and / or complex situations, under pressure
