BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
The Student Career Advisor is responsible for providing a variety of supportive employment services designed to enhance students' employability and ensuring good relationship between the University and the socio-professional world. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

Bachelor’s degree or professional diploma in human resources, student affairs, higher education, a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is strongly preferred;

Advise/Coach students individually and in groups on: internship, job search and job application process; internship program guidelines; résumé/cover letter/personal statement reviews; mock interviews; and career assessments;

Support off-campus employment and internship opportunities and ensure positive working relationships with employers;
-
Lead career fair and recruiting events, and oversee employer recruitment services;

Collaborate with on-campus stakeholders including Faculty, Alumni Relations, etc. to develop meaningful programming for student career development and exploration;

Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills (English and French);

Collaborative and team-oriented work style;

Ability to take initiatives in a dynamic and multicultural environment;

The Student Career Advisor is responsible for providing a variety of supportive employment services designed to enhance students' employability and ensuring good relationship between the University and the socio-professional world.
1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Advise/Coach students individually and in groups on: internship, job search and job application process; internship program guidelines; résumé/cover letter/personal statement reviews; mock interviews; and career assessments;

Facilitate professional development workshops, panels, and events;
-
Work with students through their career curiosities and exploration, and support the pursuit of experiential learning opportunities;

Develop & manage a database of recruiters;
-
Serve as point of contact for on-campus student employment;
-
Regularly screen recruitment websites to identify internship and job opportunities;
-
Submit monthly activity report and performance outcomes.
2. Programming and Outreach
-
Support off-campus employment and internship opportunities and ensure positive working relationships with employers;

Lead career fair and recruiting events, and oversee employer recruitment services;

Develop strategic employer and student outreach/marketing plans and materials;

Collaborate with on-campus stakeholders including Faculty, Alumni Relations, etc. to develop meaningful programming for student career development and exploration;

Perform other duties as required.
3. Skills/Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree or professional diploma in human resources, student affairs, higher education, a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is strongly preferred;

Minimum 3 years of working experience, preferably in Human Resources or related field;
-
Experience in higher education, providing career counseling, coaching or advising to college students;
-
Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills (English and French);
-
Collaborative and team-oriented work style;
-
Ability to take initiatives in a dynamic and multicultural environment;
-
Coursework in career counseling, and career development theory and practice;
-
Working knowledge of career services management software (e.g., Handshake, Simplicity, etc.) and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
