COMMUNICATION OFFICER

To achieve this, we will continue to focus on the agribusiness and renewable energy sectors, increase support to climate smart technologies, refine our challenge model, expand regional presence, deepen focus on gender, youth and employment by expanding our products and partnership approach to better meet our investees’ current needs; and ensure they rapidly scale and transition to external financing and sustainability thereby attaining our vision of ‘A Prosperous and Enterprising Rural Africa’

Position Overview:

The Communication Officer will lead efforts in developing clear and powerful communication messages, products and processes tailored to target audiences at country, regional and global levels. The holder of this position will use all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the reputation of the company in order to establish and maintain goodwill and understanding and formidable partnerships between the company and its key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the design and management of an internal and external communication strategy consistent with the company strategy areas;
Responsible for planning and delivering a range of written products from traditional press releases, compelling human interest stories, Opinion pieces to web features, brochures, FAQs, briefing notes and speeches;
Responsible for updating the the company’s internal and external websites – mainly the Francophone content;
Coordinates communications activities and events ranging from press conferences to large seminars and town hall meetings, involving external and/or internal audiences;
Oversee design, creation, and maintenance of Knowledge Management system, in collaboration with the Knowledge and Insights team, ICT team and other colleagues as necessary
Gather ongoing information about the organization’s work and results achieved to date, and document this information for broad internal and external dissemination within the region and corporate level;
Work with investees and internal clients, to assist in dissemination of knowledge products and good practices to support policy development and program efforts;
Organize media coverage both written, audio and video of major meetings of the company offices which will include marketing events for Portfolio;
Develop and maintain a database of media and communication experts in the regions of operation;

Profil du poste

Required qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, information management, media and communications, journalism, Development Studies, or related field; A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
Minimum of seven (7) years’ progressive experience in communication, media relations at the international level.
Significant experience in development-related activities in Africa;
Fluency in both oral and written English and French

Required Skills and Competencies:
Exceptional communication skills and ability to represent the company;
Ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external clients, and focus on being service oriented;
Ability to identify public information issues, opportunities and risks in an international environment;
Ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences and cultivate productive relationships;
