The International University of Grand-Bassam is urgently seeking an individual to fill one Assistant for Ground & Garden position in the Facilities Department.

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
Assist the Facilities Manager by providing support for ground and garden activities. Supervise cleaners and gardeners and report to the Facilities Manager. (A summary of the position description is provided with this announcement).
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
- Two years university education and two years professional experience; or a combination of training and experience.
- Ability to supervise cleaning, gardening and food service activities to ensure a clean and safe university environment.
- Ability to assist in the successful organization of events.
- Be able to promote and raise awareness on environmentally sound practices.
- Have team leading and organizational skills
- Be able to communicate both in English and French

Job Purpose:
Assist the Facilities Manager by providing support for grounds and gardens activities. Supervise cleaners and gardeners and report to the Facilities Manager...
Duties:
1. Cleaning and Gardening.
- Supervise the cleaners and gardeners. Ensure that buildings, grounds and gardens are kept spotlessly clean.
- Assign, lay out, supervise and review the work of staff engaged in performing cleaning tasks. Plan and develop their work schedule. Instruct them in their duties and closely review their work for effectiveness.
- Interpret policies to assigned personnel and enforce safety regulations and adherence to proper codes and standards.
- In charge of the requisitioning, storing, distributing of and accounting for cleaning, janitorial and necessary building and grounds maintenance supplies and equipment. Prepare the Purchase order and submit to the Facilities Manager
2. Maintenance
- Check for the cleanliness of the Restaurant (Kitchen and Dining room)
- Supervise the use of equipment on campus
- Identify the needs of grounds and gardens
- Inventory of the equipment of the IUGB Restaurant.
3. IUGB Activities/Events
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, assist in the organization of activities/events on/off campus:
- Purchase/order drinks/food for programs
- Ensure rooms are properly cleaned and set up for events
- Assist with receiving foods/drinks and setting them up in the designated space.
- Ensure that rooms are cleaned after the events.
4. Environment
- Promote and raise awareness of the impact of environmental issues
- Train staff in environmental responsibilities
- Participate in environmental education
5. Budget
Assist or help in Budget preparation.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Languages: English Fluent, French fluent.
- Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to plan and monitor facilities cleaning and maintenance operations. Ability to plan work, establish priorities and service standards and delegate effectively. Ability to cope with conflicting work pressures. Ability to lead a team.
- Well-developed customer relations skills and a commitment to providing quality service.
- Ability to effectively resolve conflict situations and deal with difficult people.
- Good communication skills.
- Well-developed problem solving skills.
Minimum Hiring Standards
Two years university education and two years professional experience; or a combination of training and experience.
