LINUX SYSTEMS/NETWORK ENGINEER
TASKS
- Assist in the management and configuration of our software stack in both development and production environments
- Provision, manage, and decommission gnu/linux installations running on bare metal, in linux/kvm virtual machines, and in our kiosk products
- Contribute to monitoring infrastructure and participate in on-call rotation
- Coordinate with hardware and datacenter vendors to spec, order, and deliver hardware and datacenter real estate (including power and bandwidth)
- Contribute to managing hardware platform, working on-site at datacenter locations to install and remove hardware
- Design, manage, and maintain network infrastructure, including network addressing, core routing, virtual private networks, and bandwidth management
- Write automation scripts in python and bash to avoid wasting time on repetitive tasks
- Communicate professionally and liberally with teammates across the Engineering organization
- Provide high-level support to Integration Engineering and Office IT personnel
- Add value to the organization with creative and innovative problem-solving
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years’ full-time experience as a gnu/linux systems admin (Debian/Ubuntu preferred)
- Experience contributing to diverse engineering teams
- Basic familiarity with development processes and methodology
- Advanced shell scripting skills and basic familiarity with python
- Thorough understanding of gnu/linux operation and internals
- Understanding of hardware, power, and bandwidth scaling and pricing structures
- Experience with SQL databases and ability to compose basic queries
- Understanding of version control concepts and applications
- Understanding of security setup and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with markup and data interchange formats: HTML, XML, JSON, etc.
