Job description

The Supreme Group are recruiting an experienced Transport Manager to be based in the Ivory Coast.

TEAM OBJECTIVE:

The Transport Manager will be responsible to lead and formulate actions with all support functions within Logistics to assist in successful Foodservice operations. The Operations team will be pivotal in ensuring that all Foodservice operations are organic, as the company matures they will form an integral part of a team which shapes the business into a well-developed and efficient unit meeting the environmental demands.

PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE:

Manage the Transport department in accordance with Supreme Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).  Suggest best practises where appropriate and drive changes when identified. The Transport Manager will also be accountable to obtain reliable vehicles through local transport companies and to ensure that deliveries are completed on time and to a Supreme Foodservice standard to our customers.

The role of a Transport Manager is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Plan the outbound deliveries with the information provided by warehouse of the known volumes of pallets to be delivered to each unit
  • Liaison with transport contactors and discuses any future requirements
  • Ensure that the monthly container reports are filled out
  • Ensure that all transport staff are up to date with procedures, and that all relevant departments are kept informed of transport developments
  • Ensure that transport is utilised efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure that all incidents are reported within 24 hours
  • Ensure that a delivery schedule is maintained and in a timely manner to all customers
  • Ensure that maintenance is carried out at correct intervals
  • Vehicle defects are reported and repaired to a satisfactory standard
  • Regular in-country travel
  • Reviewing existing procedures as directed by the General Manager and recommending improvements and methods of implementation
  • Set performance goals and monitor performance targets for staff
  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Operations Manager

Desired Skills and Experience

Essentials:

  • Educated to a minimum standard equivalent to ‘A' level, preferably with a qualification in Management in either a Logistics or Operational doctrine. Possess excellent people skills, commercial awareness, financial astuteness and customer service skills.
  • Be able to adjust and react to change positively
  • A sound knowledge of administration, warehouse, transport and international operations

Desirable:

  • Previous work experience in remote and challenging environments
  • Working Knowledge of Mechanical Handling Equipment
