The Finance Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day financial activities, including recording, adjusting, reconciling, and reporting all financial information. The Finance Manager will oversee and manage every aspect of Prestige Poultry’s finance department, including Accounts Receivables, Account Payables, Treasury, Financial Controls and Reporting as well as engaging with key stakeholders and ensuring any risks are mitigated and opportunities maximized.
Financial Management
● Develop, implement and maintain accounting policy and processes (SOPs) in compliance with IFRS, local regulatory guidance and group policy
● Develop and implement appropriate internal control systems and financial procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to any relevant Group policies
● Improve financial controls around key finance risk areas such as payments, receipts and asset management. Ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place to consistently check the effectiveness of new controls by testing samples regularly.
● Build scalable processes to allow for timely reporting to key stakeholders including month-end close within specified group deadlines and continuous improvement from the previous month.
● Ensure consistent monitoring of key expenses to ensure appropriate allocation and identify areas to reduce costs and
● Prepare Prestige Poultry financial reports based on regulatory and legal requirements
● Maintain appropriate company documentation and compliance with regulatory and tax-related requirements
● Identify financial risks and take part in developing strategies to overcome these risks
● Oversee the issuance of financial information to external stakeholders and investors
● Review all key company documentation with financial impact to ensure company compliance related to Finance such as loan agreements, shareholder agreements, insurance policies, etc.
● Maintain accounting software system and initiate periodic improvements and oversee successful transition of accounting systems, when relevant
● Oversee management of inventory and assets (e.g., warehouses, hatchery, breeder farm, etc)
● Coordinate with other departments on budgets and cost-control measures as needed
● Prepare and ensure receipt of necessary import documentation, including liaising with necessary government or outside parties.
Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting
● Work with Heads of Departments, and Managing Director to develop financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, and forecasting for Prestige Poultry, Cote D’Ivoire.
● Support the Managing Director on performing cash flow forecasts to monitor the business’ cash levels and ability to meet company obligations
● Produce and review budget vs. actual reports for accuracy and provide commentary to management and user departments (e.g., variance month to month, variance from budget) within the group deadlines
● Ensure accounts payable are paid in an accurate and timely manner
● Ensure prepayments to suppliers are concluded, monitored and goods/services delivered in a timely manner
● Ensure accounts receivable collected, in a timely manner, with no credit given to clients without Managing Director approval
● Oversee all ledger and bank account reconciliations.
● Ensure all inventory and other capitalized assets are supported by reliable verification procedures and aligned with IFRS measurement methodologies. Key variances must be investigated and addressed.
● Ensure there is a rigorous review and appropriate execution of the costing of Uzima products that aligns with group and reporting standards.
● Oversee credit extended by Prestige poultry to clients and employees (e.g., loans) are within agreed upon levels to mitigate financial risk; manage team to follow-up on ARs as needed to maximize timely repayment.
● Lead intercompany reconciliation process with related parties
Financial Reporting
● Oversee production of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow), budget vs. actual reporting, and other reports as required, providing commentary, and ensuring accurate and timely presentation to management.
● Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reports are provided to investors/funders as required
● Maintain appropriate company documentation and compliance with regulatory and tax-related requirements.
● Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual Cote D’Ivoire audits (financial and Tax etc).
● Ensure timely delivery of external audit, internal audit and tax reviews
● Prepare timely reporting and consolidation where required
Stakeholders / Relationship Management
● Develop and maintain relationships with key business partners (including sister companies in other countries, banks, microfinances, legal advisors, executive directors, auditors, regulatory bodies, investors, tax authorities, suppliers, mobile money vendors).
● Clear and professional communication on key finance requirements and objectives to all departments including to ensure alignment and active collaboration to resolve material company control gaps
Leadership, Coaching and Development
● Supervise and support the team’s performance by determining targets/KPIs, managing planned activities, and reviewing key performance areas and control of direct subordinates.
● Ensure clear communication of finance team roles and responsibilities and structure is conducive for optimal performance and control mitigation
● Make hiring and firing decisions to ensure the Finance department achieves its goals and aligns with Uzima values including building a culture of strong accountability and performance
● Provide leadership and support on training, recruitment, selection and motivation for Finance team (AR, AP, Cash, Costing, Inventory)
● Provide feedback in a constructive way to peers, subordinates, MD, and other Directors
Profil du poste
● Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and finance related courses.
● Experience with manufacturing process is preferable (e.g. a process that produces inventory or has work-in-progress)
● Minimum of 4 years’ direct experience in finance.
● Fluent in English writing and speaking (Mandatory).
