Agri-Business Development

We are Agriterra, a Dutch agri-agency that provides business development services to
ambitious cooperatives and farmer organisations in developing and emerging economies.

deploying practitioners from the Dutch and international farmer organisations and

For our team in Cote D’Ivoire we are recruiting
Project & Finance Officer
Location: Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire
As a Project & Finance officer, you will be executing finance and administration support
duties for the country office in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire. This includes providing good data
collection, registration and analysis of accounting matters and supporting documents in
relation to finance and running projects in Cote D’Ivoire. You have an eye for detail and
are used to work independently, but within frameworks and working arrangements of the
country office. You will be reporting to the Regional Finance and Operations Coordinator,
but work closely with the Country Representative, project managers and team of
Cooperative Advisors and other colleagues working on finance.


Duties

Finance
Financial administration: Collect, check and record transactions from incoming invoices,
bank statements, payroll, expense statements etc. in the accounting system. Prepare
payment batches for approval. Ensure the fixed assets register is accurate. Ensure
accurate recording of accruals and prepayments. Assist in month end, and year end
closing process. Support on ad hoc financial tasks. Provide support on (project) audits.
•Budget & Financial planning: Assist with coordinating the annual budgeting cycle and
consolidate country operational and project finances.
• Reconciliation: Prepare, analyze and reconcile bank- and cash books as well as
suspense- and intercompany accounts. Take action to escalate unreconciled transactions
to financial controller and/or manager finance.
• Administration of hours: Ensure an accurate and reliable administration on timesheets
and expense statements. Ensure timesheets are timely submitted into the accounting
system. Monitor completeness of the time sheets, identifies discrepancies and discuss
these with employee and/or supervisor. Process approved timesheets in accounting
system and ensures process of intercompany invoices when necessary. Calculate
holiday/leave balances for staff.
• Compliance: Ensuring compliance of internal controls, Agriterra finance manual and
general accounting principles.

Project support
• Facilitate events: make the necessary preparations for trainings, events, client visits,
etc. This includes transport and accommodation for staff and visitors in line with
Agriterra’s procurement guidelines.
• Report and monitor the progress of project implementation by providing relevant
reports for project staff.
• Project administration: assist CA’s in keeping project data up to date in AIN. Prepare
client/consultancy/services (supplier) contracts, ensure these are signed and stored
appropriately, follow up on payment requests when assignments are completed.
• PMEL support: collection and entry of data and documentation relevant for project
monitoring and evaluation.

Office support
• Administrative support: Provide support to the wider organization by assisting in a wide
range of general (ad hoc) administrative tasks.
• Office management and reception: support in office management and receptions tasks,
including a yearly review and quotation concerning new contracts from regular suppliers
(plane tickets, car rental, hotels etc.).
• Reporting to local and national government institutions to ensure Agriterra meets local
requirements.
• Operations support: assist the regional finance controller in a wide range of tasks
within the operations domain, including HR and IT. Any other duty related to finance
administration, administrative duties and client information duties assigned by the
Regional Finance and Operations Coordinator and Country Representative.

support the country operations in Cote D’Ivoire. At the same time you will be working in
a dynamic international agri-agency and interact with finance colleagues from The

will be part of the Ghana team as well as a part of the West Africa team. The working

Profil du poste

Your profile
• A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance management, accounting or a
similar field;
• At least 3 years of experience in and knowledge in finance, project management
and/or administration duties or positions;
• Proven experience in project management with solid finance reporting and writing
skills;
• High level of proficiency in English;
• Enthusiastic, focused on results and an eye for detail
• Familiarity with Dynamics, SYSCOHADA, SYCEBNL and international standard is an added advantage;
• Resident and able to work in Cote D’Ivoire
